Dr. Roger Grice: A True Lifetime Brother Retirement Party

On a brisk spring morning, the active brothers, dozens of alumni, and representatives from the RPI and Lambda Chi communities congregated together at the Troy Country Club to celebrate the retirement of longtime chapter advisor, Roger Grice.

From the time brothers first sign their bid, until after they graduate, for the past 28 years, Roger Grice has been there every step of the way, introducing them to the fraternity, teaching them life lessons, providing invaluable insight in difficult decisions, and remaining a mentor after college. Roger has developed deep connections with many brothers, and in his time, has been the High Pi for over 700 brothers (45% of our chapter’s initiates).

At the event, various testimonies were shared from all the people Roger has worked with over the past 30 years. Discussion was opened to all in attendance to share their memories of Roger. Alumni recounted stories of humor, wisdom, patience, and prudence:

The morning culminated when current High Alpha Cole Khanjari, EH 1498, presented a motion to award Roger with the title of High Pi Emeritus, where he would hold the title of High Pi for life. All present active and alumni brothers raucously applauded, and Roger was appointed High Pi Emeritus in a unanimous vote.

The event was a tremendous success and brought together brothers from many eras, community members, and Roger’s family for a celebration of Roger’s well decorated career!

The chapter would like to especially thank Geoff Seber, EH 1250, Dale Roe, EH 1480, and Pete Bria, EH 1459 for all their work in putting together the event and culminating Roger’s life story.
